Coleman Partners was commissioned by Marriott Vacations Worldwide to renovate the existing historic Edgewater Hotel on Ocean Dr. in Miami Beach into their first Urban Branded Timeshare product called “Pulse”. The existing building had been divided into small condominiums which were converted into 49 Timeshare Efficiency Apartments. The ground floor of the building had been compartmentalized with a very small entry lobby, totally losing its visual connection to the famous Ocean Drive promenade. Restoring this relationship in the Lobby was of primary importance during the design of the project. The entire ground floor was gutted and repartitioned to redirect site lines back out to vibrant and buzzing Ocean Drive. Local art, materials, and furniture which relate to the Miami Beach "vibe" were featured, such as a new terrazzo floor, white-washed pecky cypress wood, recycled bioglass, hemp rope, and unique swinging chairs.
